WATCHED: (Film) Conclave - 2024 dir. Edward Berger

Y'all. I've watched Conclave twice now and I love it. The first time was in my front room, the first time in a long time I've watched a film on a TV and not allowed myself to have my phone so I couldn't let me self skip parts or be distracted. The second was in the cinema with a friend (who had already seen it). Ralph Finnes deserves to have his feet kissed for his performance as the best cardinal there has ever been. Loved his husband Aldo too, Stanley Tucci was so strong! The other leads were amazing, I really hated Sergio Castellitto's vape hits (very funny though) and Isabella Rossellini was so powerful.

Ralph's emotionality was superb. It made the story so engrossing, and the fact that the cardinals had to be sequestered made it do dramatic. The politics of it was so powerful. It as beautiful looking and sounding, the cinematography was crazy! The twist at the end was unexpected and I knew I loved the film before seeing it, I think it's an interesting choice. It didn't detract anything for me but after the new Pope accepted, or even when they were clapping, it could've ended and I'd love it all the same. Definately one of, if not, the best film that came out of 2024.
