PLAYED: (game) The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood (2023)
I played the demo for this soon after it came out and loved it. The pixel art style is so charming, and the music is so calming (until it perfectly isn't), overall it is simply a beautiful game. The cast of characters are all really unique design and dialogue-wise and the dialogue options are informed by both the tarot pulls you make and are wide ranging enough without them to influence the game in many directions. On my first play through I got 17/28 achievements, showing me that there are quite a few routes I didn't go down. This makes me very excited to replay it! The tarot / divination deck mechanic and the ability to create one's own deck is wonderful. It's a nice creative outlet and respite between making some very heavy decisions. I've like looking at other people's cards to see if we're drawn to using similar cards together. I'm still not totally sure about how the energy of the cards mean that when you use them it'll give specific results, but I hope at least another playthrough will reveal that.
Each of the witches are SO cool. There is a clear vision for each of them and when the elections are beginning it's really interesting to see the personalities of Jasmine and Dahlia come through in their policies. It was a fun moment of almost exposure and learning where my, Toby's, own politics lie. Abramar is kind of a cutie pie despite being a Behemoth. I liked all the flashbacks to learn more about Fortuna. And the extras of interactive fictions and ability to sleep were all little tidbids that built out the world. On my first playthrough I tried to stay true to myself, although there were some instances where the vibes meant I was super dismissive (I truly could not stand Junreisha), so in the next playthroughs I of course want to change up what I choose for each element but also try to please more people and see how thin I can spread Fortuna before it backfires...
