WATCHED: (TV) The Pitt (2025)

The Pitt poster with lead Doctor Robby This show is one of the most intense programmes I have ever seen, and one of the best. As the poster says it's 15 hours, over 15 episodes for a day-shift in the Pittsburg emergency department. I watched it over 3 days, which I do not recommend cause I'm an emmotional wreck who can't stop reading fanfiction. I've heard buzz around the show but as it's not on streaming in the UK I don't know anyone who's seen it. The push that got me to watch it was some gay fanart including the character played by Gerren Howell who is a childhood crush of mine! Young Dracula was my shit growing up. I also found out pretty quickly that the lead, Noah Wyle who also produced and wrote for the show, is a key cast-member of ER which my bestie has been preaching about. The stars aligned and I started the show. I did not realise that each episode would be an hour and the experience of wathcing it all almost back to back is a dizzing one. I think it's perfect to communicate the intensity and overwhelm of emergency medicine.

Having 4 charaters that are new to the ER like us was a good way to bring us in. Being in a teaching hospital again led for connection with the characters and a hospital in a different light than we sometimes see. Each person is very different, each with their strengths and weaknesses in their line of work and personally. The amount of depth that we get character-wise in this 15 short chaotic hours is immense. Each story reveals different aspects of the very real experiences of being both a medical professional and a human being. Getting this, what has been praised as a very accurate, look at healthcare workers is so important. The show opening and closing with the attendings on the roof... ouch. I cannot decsribe how it feels to watch that.

Some of the best representation for: nurses, drug abuse, autism, medics of colour, (very) complex family relationships, med students, mental illnesses, pregnancy, houselessness, and more; that I've seen in a show. It is truly fantastic and I hold them all close. Dana is a true god send. Whitiker my wet hamster. Santos is the lesbian we all aspire to be. Precious Mel. Crying over what Jake said to Robby. I err... am a hucklerobbat shipper.
