I am replaying Pokémon White and wanted to bring you along for it! I first got a PKMN:W cartridge for my DSi when I was 17 and played it with an Oshawott starter until I got to Nimbasa City and the fourth gym. I think I did defeat Elesa? But I can't quite remember, and I somewhat lost interest after being in such a big city — I much prefer trawling around the countryside. I've been itching to play it for a while and now I've got into emulating on my Steam Deck, I'm excited to get back to it!
You might think it's weird for me to be emulating when I have a DSi, but I reach for my Deck way more than my DS and because my catridge is second hand and so hold it's tempremental so sometimes doesn't load my save... This has been inspired by Seafare and her pokémon blogs!
Start! Nuvema Town
01/APR/26: When I first got the game, I chose Snivy. Then when I decided to commit to playing it I chose Oshawott. So it only makes sense that my new playthrough I start with Tepig! I named him Terry.
I really like Cheren and Bianca as NPCs. Sometimes their dialogue is a big weird or... stereotypical? But generally this game's dialogue is great! A lot better than other games that I've seen. I have played FireRed and that game's dialogue is just shit.
Route 1 + Accumula Town + Route 2
02/APR/26: I've caught a Patrat (Patricia) and a Lillipup (Lillard). I do name my PKMN and will continue to do so because they are my babies. I generally try to name theme starting with the first few laters of their actual name as to help me remember them — I'm so terrible at knowing PKMN names, types, and evolutions. This falls apart when they evolve, I thought I'd be able to rename them when I first played.
I've caught a Purloin (Purdy).
Striaton City
03/APR/26: I try to explore the whole area before I do a gym battle, so I went into the Dreamyard after going in everyone's houses. Did a few battles and now I have a Pansage (Patrick). Then I went into the Gym. I try to have my lowest level PKMN up first so I can switch them out and they can get XP and level up. After defeating Cress I now have Purdy and Patricia up to 8, Lillard at 10, and Terry and Patrick at 11.
